Well - I may not be ready to leave - but I am ready to come home. After this weekend we are so ready. My dear friend Christy Lipscomb (since we were little 2nd graders) and my Aunt Robertta - who is like my big sister, threw me a huge shower this weekend. Just huge, totally excessive! I am so blessed. It was a little hard to breathe when I saw this mound - like you've never seen- of gifts. Beautifully wrapped and all my best girls hanging around and socializing.
My Aunties were cooking up a storm when I walked in. I mean we just don't get to eat such amazing artful food! What a party. Oh, it was soooooo gooooood. Sorry for those who missed it. My brother in law Dave gets upset when Aunt Joanne is cooking and he doesn't get to come. Ladies only. Sue was so thankful for the steak I know and Alice said, "I thought the invitation said 'snacks'." Oh and it was so adorably decorated with balloons and easter eggs and pastel butterflies - a blue one and pink one. Tooo much to take in, I couldn't, I was sweating! I wore waterproof mascara, but only fell apart once.
Ollie and Gertie got bikes (passed down from T.T. and Al and Makennah) from the De Vries - both Giants with a new fire seat on a yellow bike for Ollie and pink and purple for Gert. Oh - Grandma said that they were cleaning those bikes on the kitchen floor earlier that week with toothbrushes. New handles - big bows. Can't wait for them to see them with their new bike helmets : )!
Sue needs to post her story about the baby doll she got for Gertie!!! LOOKS JUST like her!!! Can't stand it! We have guns for Simon and Ollie, bubble bath, clothes and crocs and sleeping bags and sheets and all new bedding for the babies!! Oh I can't stand it. We're going to learn our colors and numbers and shapes! Oh, I am so set.
Grandma got us new towels for everyone in the family. Adorable matching sets for the 4 boys and three girls. So, my mother -while I was singing at church this weekend was over and Cut -- yes, cut up my old towels and put them in my rag drawer.
Robertta went through all my drawers and organized them. Saturday mom and Robertta INVADED my house -- all the drawers you keep closed and cupboards and doors you shut - they went througha and totally organized them like they've never been. Yikes. What love. And then they left more food in the fridge so I will not be cooking this week.
I am borderline embarassed for all that I have recieved. Thanks everyone for loving me - loving my family this way. I am speechless. Words feel clumsy when you want to express gratitude. I am blown away.
