Camping

Submitted by Sarah on Tue, 07/01/2008 - 6:41am.

We just got home from a weekend on the East side of the State.  I enjoyed leading worship with my friend Paula at a Wesleyan Conference.  II also had another opportunity to share our adoption testimony.

It was Gertie and Ollie's first camping experience.  Before we left Gertie especially was really unsure and loaded me with questions.  Gertie: "Camping, what is this?  Mom, I like this house, Mom, why go far, far away.  Mom, I stay here with Gramma and Grandpa, K?"  The thought of leaving our HOUSE and going to sleep outside in TENTS sounded like a crazy idea.  They both were resistant.  But, with "Daddy, no work, Daddy play" we headed off to find out what exactly camping was.  I am happy to say that "camping fun" was the final verdict.

Of course, we had to have s'mores over the campfire.  Gertie, again:  "what is this?"  Roland was teaching them how to slowly roast a marshmellow and not burn it or get it too close to the fire.  When Ollie's marshmellow lburst into flames he raised his smoking sugar into the air and shouted, "I WIN!"
