I'm in trouble

Submitted by Sarah on Wed, 06/04/2008 - 9:39am.

I'm in trouble... I'm getting a few emails that I havn't been writing any updates.  There is still an insane amount of laundry that is right now dumped all over my bed and more downstairs - no change there.  As Gertie's hair grows I'm trying to learn how to french braid.  I've never been very good at this and as I usually put in a Little House Video while I do her hair, with this new process I think I will need a Feature length film.

We took the kids up to Big Star Lake this past weekend to a friends' cottage.  You know that sand that gets in fair, relatively straight hair -- hard to get out?  Black hair: impossible.

Simon and Claire have their last piano lesson of the year this week.  In the past I have continued thier lessons through the summer - but I think I 'll give myself a break.  C & S practice 30 minutes per day and they set the timer for themselves.  Gertie now, each time she plays the piano she has to set the timer too.

Our house is up for sale - that's news.  I find I am content with the space we have unless it's raining.  However, we're trying to move closer to South Christian for Kyle.  We're just so far for him.  And yes, a little more space - I would receive it.

Claire stayed with my sister yesterday and today to help her pack for a move to Colorado.  Claire being gone has been hard on Gertie. (Although I heard Claire is relishing her time away).  At  2:00am Gertie gets up to tell me that Claire is gone is she is sad.  I wasn't very compassionate.  Both Gertie and Ollie do not like to sleep alone.

We have a translator coming next week to fill in some spaces of information.  Gertie's English is great - but I don't think we are getting the whole story on some of thier history.  Or rather I want confirmation on what I think she is trying to tell us.  Hannah's Hope didn't give us all the information they had.

I am fighting the beginning of summer as it concerns homeschooling.  I'm trying not to wind down because I feel like we missed 6 weeks of school.  I've been hammering Simon on long division - he knows how, he just doesn't want to show his work.  Remember your teachers saying : "show your work"  "show your work" -- and now my son is gagging on those same words I am cramming down his throat.

Gertie just came to me and told me that Simon threw her eggs (hand motion and sound effect) and that now her eggs are yucky (exasperated look) "mom, new eggs please."  So, I go to investigate... Simon, with a mouth full of eggs (accidentally) sneezed and blew all his eggs onto Gertie's plate.
