Happy Mothers Day

I was thinking yesterday that I earned my Mother's Day this year. Roland always is so good to me on that day - but I've thought before: "it's no big deal - but thanks." This year I will feel Very Worthy...
We had an awesome time at the Tulip Time Parade on Wednesday. My two dark, beautiful, Dutch Children dressed in costumes. Gertie's lace hat didn't really fit over her pony tails. They think "two-lip" is a silly name for abeba (flower). Gertie ofcourse wanted to pick the flowers and she had like nine adults on her "no - no - no don't pick the tulips!"
Ollie is learning how not to wake everybody up the moment he gets up. He is so mad at me when I make him go downstairs before he is dressed. I tell him it's okay to eat breakfast in our jammies. He thinks this is rediculous. Gertie is learning to be kind and respond nicely to people. One of Ollie's commonly used phrases is "that's awesome!" Gertie's hair is getting longer and I am trying to get more creative. She doesn't like to have the same do two days in a row.
Right now Gertie she is looking through a Walgreens and food ads: She points to everything she knows: "milk, eyes glasses, Ranch (dressing), photo, camara, chicken, colgate, chocolate, diaper, lotion" she points to the make-up and says "mommy - face" and then she points to the alcohol and says "this one, I don't know."
Last night at the dinner table Gertie was telling us that back in Addis Ababa she didn't go to school she only went to Dance Class. Right, Gertie. She's good. Very convincing.
